Teaching in private schools is always popular on TikTok with the private school check and posh kids called Tarquin showing off their Apple products. But more recently, on TikTok, there have been videos highlighting celebrities who have gone to private school. And there are many.

Obviously, we all know the cast of Made in Chelsea and the Royal Family were at the best private schools in this country. But there is also a group of people who keep their private education silent. Like many actors from The Crown, Sex Education and Bridgerton. Of course, a member of the Bridgerton cast has a private education.
Over the years, actors, musicians and comedians have attended schools for which their parents have paid thousands of dollars. Literally £ 14,000 per term in some cases. Their wealthy families spent all that money only to end up playing Edward Cullen or harboring the Brits and throwing the same shitty jokes all night (yes, I’m talking about Jack Whitehall).
These are all the British celebrities who attended private schools:
Let’s start with a classic private school, arguably the most famous is Eton, who taught a number of famous Brits.
Notable alumni include actors Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Damian Lewis, Eddie Redmayne and Dominic West.
Bear Grylls, Prince Harry, Prince William, Spencer Matthews and Oliver Proudlock also join those of Eton. What a mixed group of individuals.
Similar to Eton, except he produced far fewer Prime Ministers. Well, you can’t do everything. Many celebrities attended Harrow including Benedict Cumberbatch, James Blunt, Hugo Taylor and Richard Curtis.
London mayoral candidate Laurence Fox also dated Harrow but was kicked out of school weeks before his A-Levels after being discovered having sex during the Sixth Form prom. A bit of a shame for his parents who reportedly paid around £ 14,000 per term just to get him kicked out.
The first of a few private schools in London is Westminster, where it costs just over £ 13,000 per term.
But that doesn’t seem to have deterred many famous parents like Helena Bonham Carter, Adam Buxton, Louis Theroux, and Alfred Enoch all attending school.
Wellington College is based in Berkshire and costs an occasional £ 13,000 to attend a term as a boarder.
Despite the high cost, it has a number of famous alumni including Made in Chelsea’s Caggie Dunlop, actress Ellie Bamber, I’m James Haskell of a celebrity and rugby players Max and Thom Evans.
Abingdon is based in Oxford and formed Netflix’s latest star Kit Young, who currently stars in the Shadow and Bone series.
Other Abingdon alumni include Peep Show’s David Mitchell and actors Tom Hollander and Toby Jones.
Downe House School
Downe House School is famous enough to be one of the schools attended by Kate Middleton. And Kate isn’t the only famous person to attend the £ 13,000 quarterly boarding school.
Louise Thompson, Miranda Hart, and Clare Balding have all been taught there over the years.
Bedales in Hampshire has managed to produce a number of famous people including Lily Allen, Kirstie Allsopp, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara and Poppy Delevingne and Juno Temple.
Wild Child’s Juno Temple aka Drippy would have had perfect practice for his role in Wild Child thanks to his £ 40,000-a-year upbringing at Bedales.
And the award for the school that taught the most boring celebrity is Marlborough College for teaching Jack Whitehall.
But not all of them are bad alumni, Kate Middleton, Princess Eugenie and Emerald Fennell were also taught in Marlborough.
Ok, so the Harrodian school basically taught some of the fittest British actors today? The school is based in South West London and has alumni Robert Pattinson, Tom Sturridge, George Mackay, Will Poulter, Jack and Finn Harries. See, I said they were fine.
Robert Pattinson was kicked out of school after being caught selling X-Rated magazines he had stolen from the local convenience store to his school mates.
Oxford high school
I think we should all thank Oxford High School as they taught two legends for £ 5,000 per term.
The first is Mel Giedroyc, actor, former host of Bake Off and very pretty woman. Next is Florence Pugh of Little Women, Midsommar and Lady MacBeth.
Queen’s Gate School
Queen’s Gate School in London has educated all kinds of royalty.
There is the real royalty Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and the future queen of our country, the real queen of our hearts Nigella Lawson and Anya Taylor-Joy who had quite a TV show about queens (ok, they were in the failures but you see the point).
These three women join a long line of alumni who received their education at £ 7,000 per school.
Of course, the woman who played Princess Diana went to private school. Emma Corrin attended Woldingham School in Surrey, where boarding school prices start at £ 10,000 per term.
Actress Carey Mulligan also attended Woldingham School.
St Edward School, Cheltenham
Emma Corrin’s co-star Josh O’Connor, aka Prince Charles in The Crown, also attended private school.
Josh studied at St Edward’s School in Cheltenham where it costs around £ 18,000 a year.
FKA Twigs also went to St Edward’s where she got a scholarship. FKA Twigs is three years older than Josh, so it’s likely that both of them are in school at the same time.
Cheadle Hulme School
Two of the coolest girls from Netflix’s hit shows attended Cheadle Hulme School in Stockport, which costs a lot less than the rest of the schools on this list.
Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and Sex Education’s Aimee Lou Wood both studied at Cheadle, which costs £ 12.00 a year.
