television presenter AJ Odudu wowed the judges of Strictly Come Dancing.
His first performance – a jive to Gold Dust by DJ Fresh – dazzled audiences and earned him a score of 34, the highest score of the week in 16 years.
Fans will no doubt expect the 33-year-old star to sail for weeks two, three, four and five (at least), alongside her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington.
If you’re not a huge fan of reality TV (beyond Strictly), this might be the first one you’ve seen from AJ. But she’s been on TV screens for a while now.
So who is she and what shows has she presented?
Here’s what you need to know.
Who is AJ Odudu?
AJ Odudu – born Onatejiro Odudu – is a television presenter from Blackburn, Lancashire.
2013 was the year she rose to fame, appearing as a host on Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, alongside Rylan Clark and Emma Willis.
She then hosted Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit on the Psych, as well as presented behind the scenes of The Voice UK and The Voice Kids.
From Extra Slice to Richard Osman’s House of Games and the celebrity version of The Chase, AJ has made countless TV appearances.
One notable appearance was a two-hour special comeback from The Big Breakfast, alongside comedian Mo Gilligan.
And she also made it to the finale of Channel 4’s toughest reality show, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
In 2021, fans will recognize her as the host Married At First Sight UK: Afters, which will air after the main show.
In addition to her television work, AJ is editor-in-chief of women’s magazine Grazia.
And she’s pretty popular on social media as well, with 117,000 curious followers of every post.
We don’t know much about AJ’s life away from the cameras, but we do know that she is renovating an apartment.
On a separate Instagram account, @homewithaj, 11,000 fans watch AJ make his Victorian three-bed apartment.
Recent articles have included highlights of interior design and the process of building a summer house in its back garden.
What did AJ say about Strictly?
AJ was among the first three Strictly Come Dancing 2021 contestants to be announced, alongside McFly musician Tom Fletcher and comedian Robert Webb.
In a big reveal with BBC One’s The One Show, AJ confessed that she didn’t tell her mother – a huge Strictly fan – that she would be selected for the series.
She joked: “She’s going to watch [this] right now, she’s going to be beside herself.
“I can’t even tell you how much we love the show. It’s a dream come true.
“I have seven siblings, you know how parents say they don’t have a favorite child, that’s favorite child status here.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2021 continues tonight on BBC One at 6:45 p.m. ET.
