Joel Dommett shared how The Masked Dancer judges Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross gave him encouragement and advice as he embarked on his last big concert.
After facing off against the first two series of The Masked Singer, Joel is considered one of ITV’s great presenters alongside Dermot O’Leary, Ant and Dec and Emma Willis.
But he admits he’s still seeking help from veteran animators like McCall and Ross.
He said, “You can feel pretty isolated because it’s just you alone on stage sometimes.
“But it’s so nice to be able to talk to someone like Davina or Jonathan and you realize that they’ve lived it hundreds of times and they know exactly how you feel.
“And if I ever have a problem with something, I know I can always call Davina and ask her. And she’ll say, ‘Oh yeah, yeah, just do this, this, and that. I’m like, ‘Oh, alright, great’. “
And while he’s still struggling with the presentation, Joel, 35, (below) says his anxiety diminishes streak by streak like “I kinda know what I’m doing a little bit.”
He added: “It’s a very strange industry because the presentation is weird. There really is nowhere to learn it.
“You just have to learn on the job, because it’s about learning to handle the pressure in certain situations.”
