Harry Redknapp and Nick Grimshaw among stars forced to self-isolate after Covid hits BBC show

Celebrities including DJ Nick Grimshaw and former football coach Harry Redknapp must self-isolate at home for 10 days after a crew member on Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel tests positive for the coronavirus.

Some of the stars of the BBC quiz made contact with a member of the production behind the scenes during filming last Friday night, and they are now taking precautions and isolating themselves since being informed of the test result this weekend.

The news means that DJ Grimshaw is recording his daily show on Radio 1 from his home this week.

The 36-year-old posted photos from his DIY studio on Instagram on Wednesday and reportedly tested negative for Covid this week, but is staying at home as a precaution.

Former King of the Jungle I’m A Celebrity Redknapp, 74, is also said to have canceled all of his scheduled engagements this week, including a luncheon where he was giving a talk.

He has also tested negative since filming but is staying at home due to guidelines surrounding the illness.

The Wheel uses a seven-star expert panel to help win cash prizes for the contestants and other stars who would be behind the wheel during the episode included TV presenters Carol Vorderman, Angela Scanlon and Andi Oliver.

Scanlon, 37, did not come into direct contact with the crew member who co-opted and re-hosted The One Show this week after going through all the correct protocol.

Former countdown star Vorderman posted a photo from the set on May 29 and also named his co-celebrities to The Wheel on social media. But she didn’t say if she needed to be isolated.

A source from the show said that only a “small number” of people had contact with the person who tested positive and worked behind the scenes away from the TV set and did not mix with the production crew on the show. the stage, which made it possible to minimize the number of people who had to isolate themselves from the actors and the team.

A spokesperson for The Wheel told the Mirror: “We can confirm that an individual has tested positive for covid. The production has and will continue to follow strict government guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone on the show. “

The show is being filmed at Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire and due to covid precautions members of the public watch and react to what is happening in a viewing room adjacent to the celebrities and crew which means that none of those who witnessed the filming are at risk. .
