David Attenborough tops list of nation’s most inspiring ‘green’ celebrities | Celebrity News | Show biz & TV

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, who placed second on the list, was the youngest candidate, at the age of 18.

The search also found several Royals placed in the top 10, including Prince William, Prince Charles and Kate Middleton.

But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not prove to be so popular for inspiring our great nation, ranking eighth and 25th respectively.

A spokesperson for Utilita, the energy supplier behind the green list, said: “David Attenborough has done so much for this planet.

“For decades he has graced our television screens and educated the nation about the magnificent wildlife that surrounds us; he made a huge difference.

“But Mother Earth needs more of the same from all of us – we all have the same responsibility for taking care of our planet.

“And it’s important to note that every little action makes a difference; they all add up.”

Elon Musk, founder of electric car maker Tesla, placed 17th on the list, while eco-warrior and actor Leonardo DiCaprio came in seventh.

It also emerged that three in four adults agreed that it was important for personalities to be kind to the planet, with 55% of them saying it was because they had to lead by example.

And 61 percent said public figures are just as responsible as any other individual.

In fact, almost a quarter of those polled are more likely to change their habits and be more sustainable to replicate what a celebrity has done.

And a third have been inspired, at one time or another, to make a change in their lives after witnessing the actions of a public figure.

The study, conducted via OnePoll.com, also found that 71% think it’s easier for celebrities to be sustainable because they have more money.

But 83% said personalities are also a huge contributor to the climate crisis, with 77% saying they could do more than they already are.

Although they agreed that famous faces could do more, 49% of UK adults said they could make more changes themselves.

Only three in ten think they are doing all they can.

Unplugging unused electrical appliances, lowering the temperature of a wash cycle, and fixing broken items instead of replacing them with new ones, are among the most common British environmental actions.

The spokesperson for Utilita, the energy company created to help households use and waste less energy, added: “We are all equally responsible for protecting our planet and preventing further damage. .

“It’s important to recognize that we’re all making a difference, whether it’s seemingly as small as turning the heat down a degree, to something that requires a larger investment like installing solar panels on your roof, it all adds up.

“Celebrities are another powerful voice that can help pave the way for a greener future.”
