Alex Scott went all out by hosting the 2021 Children In Need phone in Salford on Friday.

The football expert, 37, stunned in a black velvet dress with a daring slit as she joined fellow hosts Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan and Chris Ramsey to face the BBC One 3-hour marathon TV.

Alex paired her dress with a matching black choker and a range of dazzling jewelry, while her raven locks were pulled back into a high, curly ponytail.

The evening’s spectacle was kicked off by the adorable Pudsey Bear channeling his inner James Bond as he made a spectacular speedboat entry.

However, the Children In Need icon was shaken and agitated when bouncers Shaun Ryder and Bez from Happy Monday toast him on the doorstep.

Meanwhile, England captain Harry Kane made a cameo appearance as he played a touch of football with Pudsey.

Ed Sheeran was on hand to provide the entertainment at the start of the show, with an enthralling performance of his single Overpass Graffiti.

While Clare Balding put on a different school sports day with a plethora of Olympic athletes participating in activities such as egg and spoon racing and tug of war.

Fans were put in the spotlight as an Olympic diver and I’m A Celebrity contestant Matty Lee stripped down to his speedos (and a scarf knitted by Tom Daley) for the egg race and with a spoon, insisting to “Miss Balding” that he felt more “comfortable” that way.

Elsewhere, fans were treated to a special performance of the official 2021 single Children In Needed Everywhere, with Niall Horan and Anne-Marie providing the vocals in their reimagining of the classic Fleetwood Mac.

Welsh weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans entered the studio after his incredible 24-hour drum-a-thon, with the TV star left speechless after learning he had raised over £ 3million for a charity.

Elsewhere, things got tense when BBC stars Sam and Mark took part in a special version of The Wall, hosted by Danny Dyer.

Although the presenters answered their questions easily, they didn’t have much luck with the balls. However, EastEnders star Danny quickly upped his spirits (and prize money) as he tripled their total, with the duo earning £ 23,109 for charity.

The annual Children In Need telethon takes place every November, with organizers asking people to donate to underprivileged children and young people across the UK.

Singer Sophie Ellis Bexter, 42, has already raised over £ 1million after completing a 24-hour danceathon Kitchen Disco.

The pop star became known for her Kitchen Discos after performing from home with her family in an effort to boost morale during the lockdown last year.

This week, she took to the stage at the BBC Radio Theater in London on Wednesday at 9.25am, changing costumes several times over the 24 hours.

She was joined by a number of her famous friends, both virtually and in person, including Spice Girl Mel C, Strictly Come Dancing’s Ian Waite and Glitter-Feet Aljaz Skorjanec, as well as TOWIE’s Gemma Collins and the Australian singer. Natalie Imbruglia.

She finished her performance with ABBA’s Dancing Queen and then tweeted: “I should have done ‘Crying at the Discoteque’ – I can’t stop crying.”

Despite the challenges of the pandemic last year, Children In Need raised a total of £ 57million.

It was hosted by Alex Scott and comedian Chris Ramsey in a studio without an audience, marking the show’s 40th anniversary.

They were joined by a number of celebrity guests including athletic Joe Wicks who raised £ 2,248,479 in his massive 24-hour PE challenge.

A spectacular grand total of £ 37,032,789 was donated by the public during the telethon.

A total of 2,700 grants were awarded worth £ 37million, supporting local charities and projects affecting children and young people.

In 2019, the public donated nearly £ 48million, but the most significant years were 2017 and 2018, when over £ 50million was raised overnight and £ 60million in total .
